Job overview

Are you an energetic, proactive and committed Registered ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse looking for a new challenge in a busy theatre suite? Do you want to be part of our exciting future?

We are seeking an enthusiastic practitioner with significant clinical experience in Anaesthetics to join our Theatre team. You will be the lead for our MRI service and also work within the main theatre suite.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills providing leadership and clinical management advice to the whole multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to assist and deputize for the band 7 in managing the day to day running of the operating theatre.

Mentorship skills or equivalent are essential, you will have a strong interest in education and quality improvement. As a senior practitioner, you will be expected to pro-actively support students and qualified theatre staff to assist them to achieve their full potential. The Trust is committed to providing staff with learning and development opportunities. We have an extensive range of in-house courses that can be accessed to support your career progression. We have close links with the University of Southampton and Portsmouth.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as a clinical expert and resource in the peri-operative environment demonstrating a sound underpinning knowledge base and highly developed clinical skills.
  • Responsible for staff supervision, annual appraisal, management of attendance and performance and identifying and facilitating staff training needs.
  • To lead and facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient-focused care and treatment, in line with agreed peri-operative guidelines and protocols ensuring evidence-based practice.
  • To participate as a Anaesthetic practitioner and recovery practitioner, demonstrating high clinical standards, maintaining his/her knowledge base.
  • To implement and influence change in line with developing clinical practice procedures and policies.
  • Supporting the band 7 in ensuring that clinical services are developed to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
