Airways/Interstitial Lung Disease CNS Band 6

Band 6

Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.

Job overview

Airways/Interstitial Lung Disease CNS (Band 6, 0.8WTE)

Location: Cross-site – Basingstoke & Winchester

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 6 nurse to join our Airways Respiratory Specialist Team.

If you have respiratory experience and are looking to broaden your skills and expertise in specialist respiratory care, this is an excellent opportunity to develop within a supportive and experienced team. The role focuses on the management and care of patients with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and asthma.

As a specialist CNS, you will act as an autonomous practitioner, supported by the Airways/ILD Lead, delivering expert care to both inpatients and outpatients throughout their treatment journey. Your role will involve providing clinical support, education, and psychological guidance, ensuring patients receive holistic and patient-centred care.

Additionally, you will play a key role in promoting tobacco dependency services across the Trust, working closely with our dedicated Tobacco Dependency Advisors to support patients in reducing and overcoming tobacco addiction.

Join us in making a meaningful difference in respiratory care and patient wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

As the main point of contact for patients, you will provide expert guidance, signposting to appropriate services, and liaise effectively with other healthcare professionals (HCPs) as necessary to ensure seamless, high-quality care.

This role requires excellent communication skills, along with a kind and compassionate approach to patient support. You will work closely with individuals and their families, offering education, reassurance, and tailored interventions to help them navigate their condition.

You will be part of a patient-focused, friendly, and supportive team, where professional growth and development are actively encouraged. The team will provide mentorship and opportunities for you to expand your skills and knowledge in specialist respiratory care.

This is a part-time position (30 hours per week). If you are passionate about respiratory care and interested in joining our team, we would love to hear from you.

You would be most welcome for an informal visit. Please contact Kelly Younger (RHCH) on 01962 825574, [email protected] or Linda Chu (BNHH) on 01256 314781,  [email protected] to arrange this.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors.
