Are you looking for your first dietetic role, or seeking further experience as a band 5? Come and join our caring, dynamic and friendly department at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be part of a team comprising of over twenty dietitians, dietetic assistants, administrators and clinical nurse specialists in nutrition, all passionate about promoting excellent nutrition and hydration care. This post will provide excellent experience in general dietetics and an opportunity to gain an insight into various specialities (critical care and PN, gastroenterology, paediatrics, diabetes, HEN, oncology). We can potentially offer rotational working opportunities on both our main sites at Basingstoke and Winchester.

You should be motivated, enthusiastic with good time management skills and a good team player.

Main duties of the job

To work within the dietetic team and provide a high quality, evidenced based and safe dietetic service at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

To be actively involved in the promotion of excellent care in Nutrition and Hydration within the Trust, which includes the training of Trust employees

· To be responsible for providing a high quality, efficient and effective dietetic service to delegated wards and outpatient clinic

· To develop, deliver and evaluate training to patients with specific condition as well as other health professionals

· To ensure the effective training and development of student dietitians, including documentation and supervision

 

Working for our organisation

You will provide a service to adult in and outpatients across the Trust, working closely with the support of a dedicated acute team. Continued professional development is actively promoted through various initiatives such as preceptorship,  work based shadowing and attending regular study days relevant to the post.

The department is actively involved in the training of dietetic students from both University of Surrey and University of Winchester. There are opportunities to deliver training to other members of the MDT, and group education sessions for patient groups.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC registration as a dietitian in the UK

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Preparing and presenting talks to groups.
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience (as a student or care support worker acceptable)

Skills

  • Good communication skills with individuals and groups
