The Children's Hearing Centre have a great opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic and well motivated Senior Paediatric Audiologist/Clinical Scientist.

The post holder will be based at the Children's Hearing Centre in Hereford working within a small, dedicated Team. 

The post holder will be an experienced, qualified Audiologist who will undertake a full range of diagnostic clinical tests including activities that are highly specialised, complex and non-routine. The work will involve a significant degree of responsibility and will require the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information clearly and effectively, both verbally or through an interpreter when necessary.  

 The post holder will work with the Head of Audiology and the Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Audiology Service to ensure that Clinical and Professional standards are maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job

The main role of the Paediatric Audiologist/Clinical Scientist is to independently provide routine and non-routine paediatric behavioural Audiological assessments, perform highly specialised Paediatric test procedures and highly specialised assessments for Paediatric patients, as well as other techniques as directed by the Head of Audiology and//or Clinical Lead for Paediatric Audiology.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude to service development. They will strive to continue providing a family-friendly service that meets the needs of the local population.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Audiologist with relevant 1st Degree or equivalent
  • HCPC or relevant registration
  • Masters level qualification in Audiology, Advanced practice or demonstrable equivalent experience acquired through significant clinical experience
  • Risk Management training
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualification in Leadership and Management

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Knowledge of skills required in the assessment and treatment of therapy patients/ service users with long standing and complex needs
  • Recent experience of carrying out ABRs on babies up to 6 months of age
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and clinical Governance
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other partners and professionals
  • Advanced Keyboard skills, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable criteria
  • Participation in national and local professional forums
