An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Management Accounting Team at Wye Valley Trust in Herefordshire. As a Senior Finance Manager you will oversee the management accounts of two clinical Divisions and work collaboratively with operational leadership, clinical teams and be a key part of the Finance Senior Leadership team.
As a small Trust we are able to offer regular contact with both CFO and Deputy CFO and the wider Executive team, supporting career progression and exposure to a wide range of opportunities.
The aim of the role is to provide proactive financial leadership of the highest possible standard advising on all aspects of financial management.
The post holder will have a senior role in the financial performance management of the Divisions and be expected to support, challenge and positively influence financial management. Working collaboratively to improve efficiency, effectiveness and achieve best use of resources.
This role is based across the main NHS sites in Herefordshire while also embracing the option of agile working, through a combination of on-site working and working from home, should this flexibility be attractive to the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The role requires an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work as a Senior Finance Manager.
The post holder will be the financial lead for two clinical Divisions. You will lead on providing a timely and accurate monthly position, monthly analysis and reporting, service development, driving efficiency and producing an annual business plan for these areas.
You will lead and motivate the finance team and work closely with your Deputy Finance Manager in providing this service.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professionally qualified as an Accountant with current CCAB or CIMA professional membership.
- Commitment and evidence of continuing professional development in line with the post holder’s professional accounting body.
- Further specialist finance training and experience related to wider Healthcare finance.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Expert user of Financial systems and Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrable evidence of influencing and persuading.
- Highly numerate and analytical
- Excellent verbal reasoning.
- Advance report writing skills
- Understanding of current NHS structures and key policies
- Knowledge of acute hospital and community healthcare environment
- Ability to lead and motivate staff
- Ability to prioritise, plan and prioritise workload effectively and in a manner which is sustainable

- Extensive expert knowledge and experience in NHS Financial Management or equivalent.
- Significant experience at a senior level in the finance sector
