Are you an experienced healthcare leader ready to make a meaningful impact in diagnostics? Clinical Support Division is seeking a dynamic and motivated Deputy General Manager to support and drive excellence across our Diagnostic Services, including Radiology (with Community Diagnostic Centre involvement), Neurophysiology, Audiology, and Vascular Science.
As Deputy General Manager, you will play a critical role in the operational leadership, strategic development, and performance delivery of a wide range of diagnostic services. Working closely with the General Manager and clinical leadership teams, you will ensure high-quality, patient-centred care is delivered efficiently and effectively, meeting local and national performance targets.
This is a busy, demanding and challenging role. In return this post offers significant development opportunities, including both professional and leadership development, equipping you with a broad knowledge and understanding of the Hospital. You will be supported through every step of the way and have friendly, supportive and caring colleagues to work alongside.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have previous experience of leading a team, managing change and resolving complex problems.
They should be resilient, organised, work well under pressure and have exceptional communication skills.
They will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the Trust’s Access Policy is adhered to and that all relevant Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
They will bring knowledge of demand and capacity planning and in this role and have the ability to use data in order to drive decision making.
They will also be responsible for the personal development planning and learning needs of the staff within their own administrative team, as well as managing any human resource issues by providing direct supervision to the Administrative Manager.
Excellent leadership skills and the need to demonstrate your ability to remain positive in challenging times are essential.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Extensive, in depth NHS experience in an acute hospital setting
- Proven experience in a Support Manager role (band 6) or equivalent
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/equivalent level of experience
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of HR Policies and Procedures in NHS
- Clear understanding of the NHS forward view
- Ability to understand and deal with complex issues, problem solve and propose solutions
- Operational/Organisational skills and ability to prioritise work under pressure
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of service re-design, workforce planning, change and demand management.
- Understanding and experience of NHS Performance Managements Systems
- Experience of financial management and budgetary control.
- Evidence of success in the management of multi-disciplinary environment
- Demonstrable success in delivering change and performance with and through your teams, by engaging them in development and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback
