The Victoria Eye Unit is looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse or allied health professional  to join our team in a busy Ophthalmology Department. The intravitreal service is a continually expanding service and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to develop into the role as an intravitreal injector.

Ophthalmology experience is desirable as training for the right candidate will be provided.

We welcome applications from individuals that hold a UK NMC registration or HCPC registration

 

 

Main duties of the job

To deliver patient centred care to Ophthalmic patients within the retinal service.

Develop practical and theoretical knowledge to ensure competencies in the intravitreal injection/retinal service.

Provide health education to patients and relatives, which promotes the health and well being of patients.

Achieve high standards of care in accordance with policies and procedures.

Deliver evidenced based care, promoting best clinical and professional practice.

The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of consultants, speciality doctors, trainee surgical doctors, orthoptists, optometrists, imaging technicians and theatre team, to ensure continuity of care.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level Registered nurse/ Allied health Professional with HCPC registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Post registration qualification within specialty or equivalent level of experience

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Provide and receive complex/sensitive information
  • Awareness of own development needs
  • Analytical and judgmental skills requiring analysis
Desirable criteria
  • Venepuncture, IV Bolus administration and Peripheral Cannulation or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of audit process and quality monitoring

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience within Ophthalmic setting
