With expansion to 7.0 WTE Consultants, appointment of a 1.0 WTE Specialist Doctor, and exciting developments on the horizon, we're ready to welcome passionate, skilled Cardiologists to our service.
About the Role
The role is split between Hereford and Worcester with a full day of coronary intervention in Worcester and commitment to their PPCI rota. In addition to this there is a fixed day on call and weekend on call for Hereford Cardiology. All other activity other than coronary intervention is based in Hereford. The current team run a mostly generic team based service for both in and outpatients, and it is envisaged that this approach would continue with the new appointee taking a full role in the service and future service development and design.

Main duties of the job
The main duties and responsibilities of the Consultants are:
- Consultant of the week 7-Day - Inpatient (1:8 weeks)
- General Cardiology on call out of hours - fixed weekday (not covered prospectively) and 1:8 at the weekends (Friday - Sunday)
- One day full day per week of coronary intervention at Worcester
- Outpatient duties - 1x F2F clinic per week
- Cardiac catheter 1-2x sessions and 1 PA of activity for prospective cover in the Cath Labs
- Sub-speciality interest coronary intervention
- Support Professional Activities (SPA) - 2.5 PAs allocated within job plan
- Commitment to the PPCI rota in Worcester
- Engage fully with the Hospital Strategy and the Strategic direction of the wider Trust
- Undertake managerial duties associated with the care of their patients and the running development of their clinical department
- Consultants are expected to be involved in all areas of clinical governance, clinical audit, annual appraisal and an appropriate CPD programme, as well as GMC appraisal and re-validation (allocated time within job plan)
- No GIM component to the job, but occasionally patients with GIM problems are admitted to the Cardiology beds

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration with License to practice
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT or CESR (proposed CCT/ CESR date must be within 6 months of interview). CESR Submitted
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
- Higher Degree (eg MD/PhD)
Physical Requirements
Essential criteria
- Ability to carry out duties as set out in the attached job description competently and subject to any aids and / or adaptations as may reasonably be required.
- Access to transport.
Experience/Training
Essential criteria
- Appropriate recent experience of Cardiology, ability to manage an undifferentiated cardiological take.
- Expertise in coronary intervention.
Desirable criteria
- Interest in Audit & management experience in Cardiology.
Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Good communicator both oral and written
- Demonstrates success of working within and leading a multi-disciplinary team
- Enthusiasm for service development and for teachin
- Flexible outlook on working hours
