Patient Safety Partner

Non NHS Banding

Job overview

HUC is seeking Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) to bring the perspectives of patients, carers, and families into the heart of patient safety, quality, and service improvement. Working alongside clinical and operational teams, PSPs will help ensure that patient experiences inform decision-making and contribute to a culture of openness, learning, and continuous improvement.

As a member of the Patient Experience Forum and Clinical Quality and Safety Committee, you will provide an independent patient voice and help shape safer, more responsive services across HUC.

Main duties of the job

  • Attend and contribute to the Clinical Quality and Safety Committee and Patient Experience Forum.
  • Provide a patient, carer, and family perspective on patient safety risks, incidents, and learning.
  • Support the development of patient-centred recommendations and safety improvements.
  • Help ensure learning from incidents leads to meaningful improvements in patient care.
  • Represent the views of patients, carers, and families in discussions about service quality and redesign.
  • Contribute to discussions relating to NHS 111, Clinical Assessment Services, Out of Hours services, Primary and Urgent Care, safeguarding, digital and remote assessment risks, and access and inclusion.
  • Support the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), ensuring investigations and improvement activities remain patient focused.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, openness, and continuous learning across the organisation.

No clinical qualifications are required. We welcome applications from people with lived experience as patients, carers, family members, or advocates who are passionate about improving healthcare services.
