Job overview

The Herts and Essex Community Hospital is situated in Bishop’s Stortford in Hertfordshire. The Rehabilitation unit has 28 beds between two wards, Oxford and Cambridge; this can be extended to 32 beds depending on system pressures. The unit provides rehabilitation for patients following an acute hospital admission. Patients admitted to the unit can be either on a 17- or 28-day pathway.

Herts and Essex have a dedicated nursing team and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Our therapy team consists of physios, occupational therapists and rehab assistants and access to dieticians, speech and language therapists and clinical psychologists. An allocated social worker is based at the unit. There are also GP trainees working on the unit who you will be working alongside.

On admission, to every unit, patients are assessed by the multidisciplinary team and a plan of care is formalised involving the patient. The anticipated length of stay will differ from patient to patient depending on their individual needs.
