Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) is a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.  In March 2021, Unicef UK approved the revalidation of HCT’s Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI), maintaining our prestigious Gold BFI award.  Our infant feeding service is well established and we have built up a proud reputation for quality and excellence thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff.

The Hertsmere Public Health Nursing Team 0-5 Team has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Band 3  (22.5 hrs/week) Infant Feeding Support Worker to join us.  The post holder must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate collaborative working.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our friendly, supportive team. You will be working alongside our Public Health Nurses and HCT Infant Feeding Co-ordinators to maintain our BFI accreditation.

The successful candidate will:

  • Under the direction of the Public Health Nurse deliver a planned intervention of information, advice and support for infant feeding.

In return we offer: 

  • In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,192 and a maximum payment of £1,845 per annum (pro rata where applicable).

  • NVQ 3 in Early Years or Childcare or equivalent
  • Evidence of willingness to undertake relevant study
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Experience

  • Care in Health, Social, Education or Voluntary setting
  • Previous experience of working with children
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Accept delegation and work without direct supervision
  • Knowledge of the Unicef Baby Friendly standards in Community
  • Understand safeguarding issues and ability to promote the welfare of children
