Job overview
We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Community.
The post holder will provide medical expertise and support to the multidisciplinary team working under supervision of consultant psychiatrists based in the quadrant. The appointed candidate would have excellent communication skills and experience of working within multidisciplinary settings. Weekly team meetings, daily hand over and review meetings will be required for all patients in crisis.
Main duties of the job
· To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
· To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively, and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
· To participate annually in a job plan review with the line manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager in order to ensure that the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation. To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services, and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
· To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.

Assessment, diagnosis, formulation of management plan, and sharing decision-making with patients and carers. |

Flexible review and re-assessment of patients in response to need, and in accordance with the pathway. |

Multidisciplinary reviews |
Care programme approach (CPA) reviews and risk reviews. |

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable criteria
- MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
ELIGIBILITY
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Desirable criteria
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
- Section 12/Approved clinician approval.
CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 4 years’ full time post graduate training (or it’s equivalent gained on a part time of flexible basis) at least two years of which to be within a psychiatry training programme or as fixed term Specialty Trainee within psychiatry o; or have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Minimum of 6 months experience within community services.
- Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge.
Desirable criteria
- Clinical experience in a range of services within Psychiatry.
- Excellent degree of medical knowledge in relation to adult mental health services.
ACADEMIC SKILLS LIFELONG LEARNING
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate clinical problem solving in interdisciplinary areas
- Possession of good organisational skills
- Be able to actively listen and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Holds a full valid driving license and access to a car (Unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995).
- Has actively participated in clinical audit
