Job overview
The Clinical Director of Clinical Assessment Service will provide dynamic, strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care across HUC’s clinical services. This is a pivotal senior role for an experienced GP leader who thrives on shaping clinical strategy, driving performance, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.
Working closely with operational and executive colleagues, you will ensure services are clinically robust, financially sustainable, and aligned with organisational goals. You will lead a team of Lead GPs, fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and innovation while maintaining the highest professional and governance standards.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Director, you will:

Provide visible, cross-site clinical leadership and accountability for service quality, safety, and effectiveness.

Lead, mentor, and line manage Lead GPs, supporting recruitment, retention, and professional development.

Collaborate with operations to deliver services that meet KPIs, clinical outcomes, and strategic objectives.

Support governance, safeguarding, and patient experience teams to ensure regulatory and ethical compliance.

Drive continuous improvement through clinical audit, learning dissemination, and quality enhancement.

Represent HUC with commissioners and system partners, contributing to innovation and new service mobilisation.

Participate in clinical rotas and on-call duties, offering expert support and leadership in real time.

This is a hybrid role which requires travel and presence at different sites across HUC network.
You must have full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer VISA sponsorship. Full UK driving licence is required.

- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
- Be a practising GP
- Demonstrate a track record of clinical leadership
- Experience of managing team of clinicians
- Experience of leading outside their own specialty/department
- Experience in delivering change
