We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Assistant Psychologists, interested in autism to work within the West Essex adult autism assessment service. The post is full time, permanent contract and will be based in Kao Park, Harlow.
The post holder will support the Clinical Psychologists with autism assessments of adults without a learning disability, participating in audits, writing of reports, undertaking psychometric assessments, and managing clinical administration as part of team of Clinical Psychologists. The West Essex autism assessment service is part of the Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation NHS University Trust.
The post holder will be professionally supervised by a senior Clinical Psychologist and will also form part of a supportive Psychology team.
Online as well as in person assessments are undertaken and car driver is essential, or access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).
Main duties of the job
To work in the Adult Autism Assessment Service, under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. The role includes assisting in the psychological assessment, as part of an autism assessment of adults without a learning disability. The post holder will participate in audits, writing reports, undertaking psychometric assessments, and managing clinical administration. They will participate in feedback of the assessments and have opportunity to suggest interventions for adults with a wide range of abilities and needs. In addition, the post would involve carrying out other work that the supervising Clinical Psychologist may require.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology.
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
Desirable criteria
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
- An interest in working with people with learning disability, autism, mental health problems or other disabilities.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of, or work with people with learning disability or mental health and/or other disabilities.
- An understanding of psychology applied to a learning disability and autism context.
- A desire to explore a career in Professional Psychology
Desirable criteria
- Experience of paid work in direct care provision.
- Experience and competence in using cognitive-behavioural therapeutic techniques or other relevant approaches.
