Job overview

We are looking to appoint a highly experienced HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to join our welcoming and psychologically minded MHSOP Psychology team to provide, develop and lead an inpatient psychological service for Older People.

This post requires a diversity of experience, from providing specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions, to supporting and leading other members of the psychology team across the county, and working closely with members of the older adult in-patient team.  It forms a key, new part of a well established and stable leadership team with particular responsibility for quality care and governance.

The ideal candidate for us will be someone who shares our values about offering high quality, evidence based, compassionate and trauma-informed services, whether in the psychological therapies or the neuropsychological assessment aspect of the service. We are a research active team and hope that candidates will bring skills and knowledge to support audit, research, and project development within the service.

Main duties of the job

The post is a new one, providing leadership to and management of psychological interventions in the frail functional older adult in-patient service.

The job will also involve providing professional and clinical supervision to Psychologists working in the MHSOP Psychology service as well as management supervision to other people within the in-patient team. The postholder will also help with the further development of the MHSOP Psychology service by supporting its head in the leadership of the service. Other important duties will involve supporting psychological aspects of service development, evaluation, research and teaching and maintaining standards in supervision and CPD.

This role has a key leadership role both within the team and across the wider psychology professional group.  We are therefore seeking a strong leader, who has an extensive clinical skill set, who is passionate about working collaboratively to improve the delivery of care to young people and their families.

Please see job description and person specification for further details.
