We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT). In particular we are looking for temporary staff to work as and when required often at short notice at Band 5 level, within Hertfordshire

All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis.

HPFT provides services for service users with mental health, learning disability and children’s and adolescent mental health problems. Applicants should have some experience of working in a healthcare setting particularly within mental health services.

HPFT has a range of healthcare settings across the County and therefore access to a car would be beneficial unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving

Main duties of the job

To be part of an integrated health/social care team providing inpatient care for service users suffering from serious and enduring mental illness. Offering nursing interventions in a wide variety of clinical,therapeutic and social forms with the aim of promoting mental health wellbeing, self-autonomy and independence.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care, in liaison with the care team in the capacity of a mental health nurse.

• Work as a Named Nurse/part of a team for the individuals in the 
service area, providing a holistic approach to service user assessment, 
treatment, review and management of packages of care 
• Ensure that the statutory requirements of the MHA 1983 (amended 
2007) and Mental Capacity Act are observed and applied 
• Clinical skills relative to the delivery of care in the service 
area 
• Have effective working relationships with other professionals within 
the service area, across the Strategic Business Units, (SBUs) Trust 
and other NHS providers and key stakeholders 
• Contribute towards effective management and utilisation of 
resources with service area 
• Lead a nursing staff team in the absence of the Charge Nurse.

The Staff Bank Bureau is seeking Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMHN) who is committed to providing high-quality care. We are offering a  Bank role to work alongside our current nursing staff and be part of the multi-disciplinary team that really delivers. This is a excellent opportunity and you'll be ambitious to take a multidisciplinary approach to delivering care to our inpatients.

Knowledge/Training/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in RNMH/RNLD/RMN
  • NMC
  • IT/PC Literate
  • Experience of assessing and managing clinical risk
Desirable criteria
  • ENB 998/Mentorship
  • Completion of management training
  • Teaching/training experience

Communication Skills
