Job overview

We are recruiting for a Senior Rotational Pharmacy Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This role could be ideal for newly qualified accuracy checking technicians who want to work in a busy and dynamic hospital pharmacy. Applicants with a retail pharmacy background are welcome to apply for this post as on the job training will be provided for all aspects of the role. Any new qualified technicians without an Accuracy Checking qualification or NVQ3 will be considered for this post and a Band 4 to Band 5 developmental plan will be offered.

You will be responsible for the day to day activities within the pharmacy department at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Pharmacy such as general dispensing, drug distribution, chemotherapy desk, patient counselling and associated pharmaceutical duties.

In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for dispensing and checking of in-patient prescriptions and systemic anti-cancer treatment.

You will provide routine technical pharmacy support in a professional manner which supports a high quality, patient orientated service

The successful candidate will participate in the purchasing of drugs and drug distribution activities.

You will be responsible for running of the Chemotherapy desk and dispatching of chemotherapy orders to wards and day units in a timely manner.

You will also partake in stock control activities such as expiry date checking, stock counting and replenishing the emergency cupboard, fulfilling to-follows, conducting expiry date checks and replenishing emergency boxes as required.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with GPhC
  • Educated to diploma level 3 or equivalent in a relevant medicines related subject or equivalent qualification or significant equivalent proven experience (degree level).
  • GPhC Accredited Accredited Checking Technician (ACT)
  • GPhC Accredited Medicines Management qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualification pharmacy practice experience

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Pharmacy services
  • Evidence of CPD and self-development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in using JAC dispensing system
  • Previous experience in working with oncology patients
  • Previous experience in working in Hospital Pharmacy

Knowledge

Essential criteria
