Job overview
We are recruiting for a Phlebotomist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
We are looking for someone who is compassionate and has an excellent attention for detail to join our very busy, friendly Phlebotomy team. We are looking for experienced phlebotomist or we would be more than happy to train candidates who have all the right qualities but no experience.
You would be taking blood samples from patients in a number of settings ie, Outpatients & wards.

Main duties of the job
To collect all samples in accordance with the current policies, considering the requirements of the relevant pathology departments.
To ensure Phlebotomy SOPs are followed with regards to all processes relating to venepuncture.
Act as a first point of contact for patients attending Phlebotomy who have become unwell (e.g. fainting, vomiting). Escalating to senior or line managers if patient is not recovering as expected or there are concerns of something more serious. If appropriate, emergency services would be sought.
Adhere to all Trust policies on the collection, storage and transport of samples, especially “high risk” specimens.
To follow Pathology Training procedures and be fully competent in all aspects of venepuncture in accordance with the trust venepuncture policy. Practice different approaches to the techniques required for the individual patients. This includes Blood Transfusion training.
To inform the line manager of any problems, issues that may arise during duty.
To attend and maintain all required Trust Mandatory/Statutory Training.
Ensure adequate stocks for your work area.
To manage your workload as per your managers instructions.
