Job overview

We are recruiting for a Chemotherapy Booker who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The key role of our Chemotherapy bookings team is to be responsible for the booking of all SACT treatments within MVCC, working closely with our clinical teams

To co-ordinate and arrange treatment for the Cancer Centre's patients, and for ensuring the patients' medical records are properly maintained.

You will be by dealing with patient queries over the phone and by email, processing and sending out updated appointments by letter and text message

Main duties of the job

To provide day to day supervision and support of all Chemotherapy treatment bookings to ensure they are booked in a timely manner.

To deal with all patient referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first treatment is scheduled within the Cancer waiting times targets.

To develop a specialist knowledge of Cancer treatment bookings

To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around their experience

To schedule all Chemotherapy treatment in the Cancer Centre according to Mount Vernon Cancer Centre protocols.

Develop specialist knowledge of the Electronic Scheduling system for all bookings.

To plan patient treatment and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of influencing factors.

To plan ahead and to reschedule treatments, when necessary, to ensure that the treatment capacity is fully utilized

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • 5 Grade A-C GCE or equivalent, including English & Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Existing knowledge of Chemotherapy booking process

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of delivering high standard work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Experience of working both in a team and autonomously
  • Experience of working in a diverse environment, valuing equality for patients and staff

Desirable criteria
  • Previous oncology experience
  • Patient contact Hospital PAS system
  • Previous experience in a Health or Care setting
