Job overview

We are recruiting for Therapy Radiographer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated therapy radiographer to join us at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, based in Northwood, Middlesex.

You will work as an unsupervised worker and supervise junior staff and students and assistants.

In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will carry out complex technical radiotherapeutic procedures on all the treatment and pre-treatment units in the department on a rotational basis.

You will undertake the appropriate care of patient, assessment of treatment progress and side effects making appropriate referral to the multi-disciplinary team.

You will assess patients level of knowledge before commencing with treatment and thus participate in  the informed consent process. 

You will have to provide appropriate information or referring to support services.

You will also guide, instruct and support patients receiving radiotherapy and to advise patients on necessary aftercare.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • DCR(T) or BSc in Radiotherapy and registered with the HPC
  • Evidence of appropriate CPD activity
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of interest in, or attendance at M Level courses
  • Evidence of clinical competencies

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Range of practical work on radiotherapy equipment
  • Broad experience across different area of radiotherapy and associated disciplines

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to act as clinical supervisor

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Good theoretical knowledge
  • Knowledge of modern treatment techniques and modalities and professional issues
