Assistant Trust Secretary

NHS AfC: Band 6

At East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust we are proud of the range of services we provide.  As a result, we need amazing people to help us deliver these services and provide excellent care to our community.

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is seeking to appoint an Assistant Trust Secretary who recognises the benefits that good governance processes  and systems can bring to the Trust and our stakeholders.  We see good governance as more important than ever as we continue to respond to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and in the context of a continued move towards greater local healthcare system integration.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced committee secretary (or similar governance professional) who is looking to build on and further their career as a governance professional. Support and training will be provided to this end.

One of the main duties of the role is the coordination of the Trust Board and other sub-committee meetings, which will entail  agreeing agendas, collating and publishing papers and  producing accurate minutes of the decisions taken at those meetings.

The post holder is required to work under their own authority and initiative, planning and prioritising their own time to ensure deadlines are met.

The post holder will join a corporate governance team currently consisting of Trust Secretary and Corporate Governance Officer. The Assistant Trust Secretary will deputise for the Trust Secretary on certain matters and ensure key corporate governance processes are maintained in their absence.

This role provides an unrivaled insight into the inner workings of a large acute NHS trust on an upwards trajectory in many areas. If you are seeking a challenging but rewarding role in healthcare governance, this position could be for you.
