Job overview

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader Coordinator - Theatres who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for secondment posts for 1 year for dynamic individuals to undertake the role of theatre coordinator within the Theatre areas.

You will be responsible for the coordination of the theatre department including managing daily staffing requirements, supporting theatre teams to manage list efficiency, problem solving and amending rosters, Deputising for Band 7. Liaising with multi-disciplinary teams to manage elective and emergency services.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective and visible leadership, expertise, advice, and support to the theatre department team and ensure the provision of high-quality care to patients and families.

To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner

To assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources

To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of a theatre team leader.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • RGN and/or ODP
  • Registration with NMC/HCPC
  • Evidence of on-going dynamic continuing professional development
  • Mentorship / preceptorship qualification
  • Leadership or management training
  • BLS+/PBLS
  • Evidence of fulfilling PREP/CPD.

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant theatre organisational experience and skills within the clinical area
  • Experience within relevant clinical environment with significant knowledge of the clinical speciality
  • Teaching, supervision and managerial experience
  • Experience of coordinating and managing patient care
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of change in management and problem solving
  • Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
  • Participation in formulation of procedures to ensure best practice
  • Implementation of personal development plans
  • Previous experience of research and audit
  • Management of more than one theatre area
  • Experience in appraisal techniques

  • Be able work within an environment which where you will be exposed to blood, body tissue and body fluids.
  • Be able to work in close proximity to patients undergoing open and closed operative procedures.
  • Be able to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Have good manual dexterity
  • Have excellent vision with / without glasses
  • Able to stand still for long periods of time which could be for the duration of any operative procedure
  • Able to work in an environment with high levels of physical activity Moving and Handling (including use of appropriate supporting equipment) Twisting Bending Pulling and pushing
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment
