Job overview

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

The Cardiac Suite at East and North Hertfordshire NHS trust, is currently looking for a dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our progressive cardiology team.

 The area provides 24/7 primary angioplasty service and is continuously expanding and developing the service provided, to ensure high quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will assist the cardiologist in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

You will ensure the effective maintenance of paper and integrated electronic communication systems to enhance clinical practice.

You will undertake an active role in the development, monitoring and auditing of standards for use within the clinical area.

The post holder may also undertake and participate in clinical training in other Cardiac Centres to facilitate self-development as well as providing support to the department.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register
  • Appropriate post registration course or relevant experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • ILS provider

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration experience
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the patient pathway including national waiting targets
  • Previous experience within a cardiac catheter lab setting
  • Experience of non-invasive cardiology tests

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills and an ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Desirable criteria
  • Computer literate and presentation skills
  • Understanding of research and audit and a willingness to participate in these within the department

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad knowledge of cardiology and the management of cardiac conditions, with an understanding of ECGs
