Job overview
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse/ODP - Maternity Theatres who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
As a Registered Nurse /ODP in our Maternity Theatres team you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standard of care for women undergoing clinical or peri-operative procedures.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking the role of scrub practitioner for both elective and emergency procedures within the maternity theatres, ensuring safe and effective care throughout the surgical process.
They will also provide compassionate, high-quality post-operative care to women in the recovery area, supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing during this critical period.
Working closely with the Department Manager, Matron, and members of the multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining and promoting the highest standards of clinical care within the unit.
In addition, the role involves supporting, monitoring, and delivering care to women and their babies during clinical procedures and throughout the post-operative phase, ensuring patient safety and a positive experience at all times.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
- Must be willing to undertake relevant post registration courses as advised by the Practice Educators/ Theatre Team Leaders
Desirable criteria
- ILS/ALS
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of mentorship & preceptorship training
- Advanced Life support certificate
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Gained through undertaking relevant study
Desirable criteria
- Post qualification experience within the perioperative setting
- Relevant experience in either an inpatient or day surgery theatre, maternity theatre or other relevant clinical area
- Peri-operative practice, skilled in recovery and scrub
- Experience of providing clinical support outside of the theatre area
Skills

- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic IT skills
- Can organise and prioritise
- Ability to demonstrate initiative

- Clear written and spoken English
Desirable criteria
- Good planning skills
- Can perform in the role of scrub and circulating assistant, recovery person or has relevant experience within a critical / acute care setting.

- Can participate in the audit process
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Aware of the National 6 Cs campaign
