Job overview

We are recruiting for a Project Officer for Specialty Doctor and Locally Employed Doctor who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to efficiently co-ordinate a programme of activities for Specialty Doctors (SAS) and Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) within the East of England. The Project Officer will provide high-quality administrative support to the SAS/LED workstream at Lister Hospital, ensuring smooth delivery of programmes, effective communication, and excellent support to doctors and stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

This role will co-ordinate a wide range of activities for Specialty Doctors (SAS) and Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) across the East of England, providing high-quality administrative support to NHS England (EoE) and the Host Trust at Lister Hospital.

The post holder will provide support in meetings, training events, finance processes, and web updates, while acting as the first point of contact for SAS/LED doctors.

You will work closely with the Associate Dean, Faculty Support Team, and Medical Education colleagues, they will ensure the smooth delivery of programmes and contribute to new initiatives that support doctors’ development and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will assist the Associate Dean and Faculty Support Team with Trusts annual development planning process, including budget planning and obtaining quotes for courses and events.

You will also be undertaking the reporting and analysis of project information to support project delivery.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience/knowledge from working in a similar area/environment
  • Good understanding of a range of work procedures and practices which require a level of expertise or specialism obtained either through formal training or equivalent experience e.g. project management, data analysis, high level administrative procedures
Desirable criteria
  • Formal programme of project training eg PRINCE 2

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supporting complex projects or programmes within a recognised project or programme management framework.
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and providing information and advice
  • Experience of assisting with the planning of effective meetings and events
  • Experience of contributing information to formulate project reports
  • Experience of documenting and reporting on risks and issues which includes identifying, monitoring and escalating the impact of risks and issues via the risk register for each project.

Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Competent use of MS office packages
  • Ability to take information from a number of sources and provide analysis, summary and options within detailed reports
  • Ability to use data systems or office systems e.g. diary management

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Practical knowledge of designing, setting up and implementing project management administrative processes and procedures for complex projects
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection legislation including information governance
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management and information analysis
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of project principles
