Job overview
We are recruiting for a Nursery Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be an effective member of the maternity multidisciplinary team working under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives/nurses and other health professionals.
You will assist registered midwives/nurses and parents to provide holistic care for neonates within the maternity services, including transitional care.

Main duties of the job
The postnatal ward consists of 27 cots. We also provide transitional care facilities as shared care between the Neonatal Unit and the ward.
Contribute to the team as an active member, always demonstrating a flexible and cooperative approach, supporting colleagues with clinical activities.
Work within the agreed policies and procedures of the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
To assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge planning of neonates, ensuring relevant information is communicated to patients and their families, as well as the midwife in charge. This includes the checking of babies’ identity bands, wellbeing, and handover of clinical information of patient and baby.
The successful applicant will work in a supervised role assisting the Midwifery team, providing a high standard of family centred care within the Postnatal Ward environment.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
- Must be Numerate and literate
- Good standard of education
- NNEB or equivalent training
- Diploma in childcare education
- NVQ Level 3
Previous Experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with Neonates or in a healthcare setting

- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to use own initiative
- A desire to care for patients and babies
- Ability to prioritise own workload
