Job overview

We are recruiting for a Specialist Radiographer - Radiology  who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

As we grow and promote better patient care and experience, we are looking for experienced radiographers who have proven clinical ability in general radiography, and who have the desire to develop their own career and increase their expertise.

As one of our band 6 Radiographers you’ll join a friendly, energetic department with a lively calendar of social events.

Candidates should be flexible, forward thinking and highly motivated, with good communication skills and team working ethic. 

This is a full time post and is based at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, but you will be required to travel to our sister sites at times. You will participate in our 24/7 shift pattern to provide excellent imaging to our patients.

Main duties of the job

The Specialist Radiographer will demonstrate a high level of theoretical and technical skill and be able to adapt techniques to suit patient capabilities. 

You will also be able to assess and evaluate diagnostic images and take responsibility for ensuring optimum image quality.

The post holder will be required to interpret clinical history and patient information correctly to ensure that the instructions for examinations are matched to the needs of the patient. 

You will providing a service to a variety of patient presentations including the seriously ill and those who may be unconscious, uncooperative, incapacitated, incompetent, disorientated or have physical and mental disabilities.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • DCR or BSc Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC is a radiographer
  • Evidence of CPD

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of a wide range of imaging equipment
  • Experience of supervising junior members of staff
  • Demonstration of ability to make decisions and take responsibility
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of CR/DR imaging systems
  • Involvement in Audit and Clinical Governance programmes

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Demonstration of organizational skills at departmental level
  • Excellent communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Core management skills
  • Student mentor training
  • Appraisal training

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent general radiographic skills with an interest in a specialist modality
  • An understanding of IRR17/IR(ME)R 2017 legislation

  • Red dot study day attendance
