Job overview
We are recruiting for an Obstetric and Gynae Lead Sonographer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The department works closely with the women's health team to deliver high quality scan reports.
Our state of the art equipment and good support from our commercial partners supports sonographer development. You will be at the helm of developing improved pathways to support women using your experience and knowledge of imaging.
Our multi-skilled sonographer team rotate across all three sites and provide a 7-day emergency service at the Lister, which is our acute site and is working towards 7 days working at the New QEII hospital to support the Community Diagnostic Hub.
We support flexible working and have shifts working weekends and evenings.

Main duties of the job
As the Lead Reporting Sonographer for Obstetrics and Gynaecology you will take a major role in ultrasound imaging supporting high clinical standards.
You will assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures and make an effective contribution to service development and quality improvement.
The post holder will be involved in writing Training documents & Competencies for specific procedures.
Act as academic and clinical mentor to both educate and support those learning ultrasound procedures or research, including radiologists, radiographers, RDA s, and other disciplines.
The successful candidate will participate and have an active role in audit and clinical governance.

Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- DMU, PgDip or equivalent recognised Ultrasound qualification
- UK hospital experience in MSK ultrasound
Desirable criteria
- Experience of general and some vascular ultrasound
- MSc in health care related subject
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of a wide range of Imaging equipment
- Demonstration of ability to make decisions and take responsibility
- Experience in MSK scanning
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in Audit and Clinical Governance programmes.
- Maintained competence in general ultrasound imaging
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good verbal and written communication with patients and staff at all levels
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Experience of training other members of staff in MSK imaging

- Core Management Skills
