As a Clinical Support Worker, you will work closely under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, playing a vital role in maintaining high standards of patient care across our hospital wards and departments.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Communicating effectively with patients
  • Supporting Registered Nurses and Midwives in patient care
  • Assisting with washing and dressing patients
  • Taking physiological observations
  • Making beds and maintaining clean patient areas
  • Serving meals and helping patients with feeding
  • Providing emotional support by listening and talking to patients

Working Hours:
This role involves working across days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a virtual information and guidance session on Thursday, 16th October.

These sessions will be conducted at 12:00pm and 6:00pm to accommodate attendees. We look forward to engaging with as many candidates as possible. The session will provide comprehensive details regarding the role, offer interview advice, outline the assessment day, and explain the overall recruitment process.

Unplanned Care includes Care Groups 1, 2, and 3 within our trust and offers the opportunity to work across a range of specialties listed below, depending on vacancy availability:

Emergency Department, Acute Medicine, Urgent Treatment Centers, Same Day Emergency Care, Assessment Ward, Stroke, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Respiratory, Renal, Diabetes and Endocrine, Elderly Care & Frailty, Rheumatology, Neurology & Neurophysiology.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSEs (or equivalent qualification or standard) in English and Math
Desirable criteria
  • Care Certificate
  • Health and Social Care Level 2

Previous Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of healthcare or care work
  • Experience of working with the general public or a range of different people

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively people with varying levels of understanding
  • Evidence of being self-motivated
  • Evidence of working effectively as part of a team
  • Basic IT skills – ability to use keyboard or willingness to develop
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a busy, sometimes pressurized environment
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to use judgement on when to escalate issues and problems

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use them to communicate effectively with patients within a multi-disciplinary team
