Job overview

Recruiting band 4 Nursing Associate!

We are seeking to recruit Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our new Mental Health Urgent Care Centre.

If you are interested in working with an outstanding Trust to develop and deliver Crisis assessment and treatment in an innovative urgent care centre environment then we would love to hear from you.

The Mental Health Urgent Care Centre will operate with an enhanced specialist multidisciplinary team, focusing on improving the experience and outcomes for service users, carers, and staff, alongside supporting acute colleagues in the system by enabling the acute hospital to operate and improve ED performance and quality of care.

The service will operate 24/7 and will be a multi-disciplinary, cross sector service that is practitioner-led and supported by social care, voluntary sector partners and Lived Experience Workers.

You must be a Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register and have at least a Level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice.

Previous experience of working in a care setting would be an advantage, as would an interest in mental health.

Main duties of the job

As our new Nursing Associate, you would be welcomed into a safe and supportive multidisciplinary staff team that would empower and encourage you to be the best version of yourself for the benefit of those we care for.

On a day-to-day basis, the role involves working with registered nurses and the wider multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service needs and service-users’ mental and physical health needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians. Working hours would involve shifts, including some nights, weekends and bank holidays.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills, as well as the ability to think quickly and act in a calm and sensible manner. They will also need an understanding of relational security and be prepared to model and promote the Trust’s values at all times.

In return, we can offer you:

  • 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service) plus bank holidays (pro rata where applicable)
  • One of the UK's best pension schemes
  • Flexible working
  • Special leave for family and personal reasons
  • NHS Car Lease Scheme (for substantive staff)
  • Employee Assistance Programme

Working for our organisation

We are one of just five mental health trusts to achieve an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission

Our family of over 3500 members of staff provide health and social care for people with mental ill health, physical ill health and learning disabilities across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Norfolk, delivering these services within the community and several inpatient settings. Everything is underpinned by choice, independence and equality, with our Trust values embedded throughout:

Welcoming. Kind. Positive. Respectful. Professional.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Nursing Associate on Inpatients, your responsibilities would include:

  • Providing compassionate, safe and effective care and support to service-users to improve and maintain their mental, physical and behavioural health and wellbeing.
  • Monitoring the condition and contributing to the ongoing assessment of the health needs of service-users on a continual basis in partnership with other professionals, families, and carers.
  • Using knowledge and experience to make evidence-based decisions and solve problems.
