As a key player in our Commercial Directorate, you will:
Lead bid development – Create high-quality proposals that stand out.
Develop strategic solutions – Collaborate with operational and clinical teams to design commercially viable service models.
Identify new market opportunities – Expand our services into untapped areas.
Manage the opportunity pipeline – Ensure a seamless bid process from identification to submission.
Engage stakeholders – Present opportunities to senior leaders with confidence.
Ensure bid excellence – Continuously improve processes for winning bids and business cases.
What We’re Looking For
A results-driven professional with experience in tender writing, business development, and commercial strategy in health and care services. A sharp analytical mind to assess procurement policies, risk and reward strategies. A skilled communicator who can craft winning narratives and present ideas effectively to key stakeholders. A collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and turns challenges into opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Principle Responsibilities will Include:
· Responsibility for the development of high-quality bid response documentation, including operational, financial and commercial components
· With the support of subject matter experts, create a solution that meets the service specification and key performance indicators ensuring a clinically safe and operationally deliverable service
· Ensure the narrative of the bid includes key themes and unique selling points across the entire response, ensuring consistency and one voice
· To understand procurement policies/frameworks, including the Provider Selection Regime; the impact on the organisation, and to support the development of a self assessment tool
· Creation of slide decks on opportunities to support Board and sub board committees and HUC’s internal processes
· Review bid processes on a regular basis and improve as required, as well as stock answers, and ensure the bid and selection questionnaire library is regularly updated
· Engage, support and co-ordinate individual workstreams and other internal stakeholders to ensure their output is of the highest quality
· Lead the development process for bids and proactive opportunities from the initial advert to full submission and into mobilisation, ensuring continuity and a safe handover to the appropriate lead/s
· Present opportunities to a wide range of stream leads and HUC executives, with easily understandable information

Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Extensive bid/service improvement/writing experience
- NHS / Healthcare market experience
- Awareness and understanding of commissioning processes and landscape
- Proficient in use of Microsoft applications
- Strong communicator
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams
- Excellent written English and presentation skills and experience of presenting compelling business cases to senior internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to clearly communicate the outputs of models to senior management, including the ability to develop presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Well-organised with good project management skills
- Ability to work credibly with senior managers and form strong personal relationships, both internally and externally
- Self starter, highly motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner, including at senior management level
