Join our team as an Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response (EPRR), Sustainability & Supplier Scrutiny Manager.

The EPRR, Sustainability, & Supplier Scrutiny Manager will collaborate with our Corporate Services Director to ensure HUC adheres to all applicable EPRR and ESG regulations, along with broader NHS contractual reporting obligations.

Working closely with our Head of Information Governance and Corporate Services Compliance you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a strong and effective supplier monitoring framework, incorporating check and challenge processes relating to data protection, business continuity, sustainability and modern slavery.

This position will involve creating procedures to implement effective EPRR and Business Continuity measures throughout HUC, while also providing guidance to the Board of Directors on their essential related responsibilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the resilience and sustainability efforts of HUC, ensuring the organisation can effectively navigate challenges and continue to provide excellent care.

The ideal candidate will have:

A strong background in emergency management, risk assessment, and sustainability practices.

Strong communicator, enabling them to liaise with internal teams, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Extensive experience of co-ordinating EPRR processes within a complex and regulated organisation.

Main duties of the job

Principal duties and responsibilities

To support the Accountable Emergency Officer in the daily discharge of their responsibilities, acting as a subject matter expert on all EPRR and Business Continuity matters

To act as the EPRR lead for HUC, whilst ensuring the HUC’s business continuity management system is fit for purpose and in accordance with national best practice and NHS contracting requirements. This will include ensuring that continuity plans and emergency preparedness processes are regularly tested, updated, and contain evidence of assurance.

Ensure all suppliers have secure, resilient and ethically sound practices in their delivery of services for HUC. Thereby ensuring compliance against key data protection framework/toolkits (e.g. CAF), annual EPRR core standards, CQC requirements and our HUC’s Modern Slavery statement in accordance with statutory requirements.

Oversee and develop the ESG workstreams within the organisation and co-ordinate annual carbon emission reporting.

Champion sustainability causes and co-ordinate the work of the Green Ambassadors.

This role requires a full UK driving licence as it involves travelling between sites as per service needs. Own vehicle is preferable.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area.
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development (Ideally DIPHEP or equivalents)
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist knowledge gained through Institute of Risk Management’s International Certificate or master’s level equivalent
  • Member of the Institute Civil Protection and Emergency Management

Analytical

Essential criteria
  • Ability to analyse complex facts and situations ad develop a range of options.
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.
Desirable criteria
  • Strategic thinker – ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of co-ordinating EPRR processes within a complex and regulated organisation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the ESG regulatory environment in which Social Enterprises operate.
  • Demonstrable experience of reviewing and revising governance structures and improving ways of working.
  • Appreciation of CQC, governance and compliance
Desirable criteria
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisation.
  • Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.

  • Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information; negotiate with senior stakeholders and present complex and sensitive information to influential groups.
