Main duties of the job

·       Help out on different projects that make a real difference to patients and the local community.

·       Work with experienced team members who will support and guide you.

·       Attend meetings and learn how decisions are made in the NHS.

·       Work in different areas like partnerships, communications, and helping improve services.

·       Write short reports, newsletters, and presentations (don’t worry, training will be provided).

·       Do research to find information for projects.

·       Help organise meetings, including sending invites and writing notes.

·       Be involved in community events to find out what people think about NHS services.

·       Get support from your manager with mentoring and coaching.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a one-year paid placement in the Strategy team at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. It’s a great chance to gain real work experience in the NHS, learn new skills, and build your confidence.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • A sixth-former or college leaver
  • Good standard of general education
  • GCSE English A-C, or equivalent

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with people face to face

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, with good time keeping and with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent IT skills across range of IT packages (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Caring – demonstrating care for patients, service users, colleagues and partners
  • Flexibility and agility to be able to handle a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment
