The ideal candidate will be able:

  • To work as a member of the Danesbury Neurological Centre team which specialises in the treatment and management of patients with complex neurological conditions, usually progressive and usually affecting life expectancy. 
  • To provide administrative support to enable the delivery of high quality multi-professional therapy packages to highly complex patients with neurological problems.
  • To act as first point of contact for telephone and face to face enquiries by patients, their relatives and carers, health professionals (both internal and external) and the general public on the Danesbury site and to support the smooth running of the Unit.

Main duties of the job

  • To answer the telephone and deal with enquiries.
  • To meet and greet and direct patients and other visitors appropriately.
  • To assist the ward administrator with ward based admin tasks.
  • To take room bookings.
  • To maintain reception diaries.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Be responsible in meeting and greeting patients and visitors to HCT, delivering a high standard of comprehensive reception and administrative support to ensure effective delivery of clinic services to patients and clinical staff which fall within the remit of Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

Be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the clinics and facility.  Working with the minimum supervision and using initiative to achieve service requirements and deadlines.

To act as first point of contact for telephone and face to face enquiries by patients, their relatives and carers, health professionals (both internal and external) and the general public on the Danesbury site and to support the smooth running of the Unit ensuring patietn confidentiality is maintained at all times, in line with expectation and Trust policy.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to G.C.S.E. or equivalent.
  • NVQ level 3 in Business Studies or Administration or equivalent knowledge or experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Customer Care experience

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Administrator/Reception experience
  • Experience of managing diaries and appointments
  • Good level knowledge of IT systems
  • Experience of composing and disseminating correspondence
  • Ability to organise and assess data received and judgement in managing appropriately dealing with queries and problems.
Desirable criteria

  • Managing e-mail
