Research Administrator

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre as a Research Administrator. Working on several ongoing research projects, this post will be an exciting opportunity to work as part of the world-renowned research team based at St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight.

You will need to have a thirst for continual development with a desire to learn new skills along with an eye for detail. Therefore, we are looking for a creative and innovative team player to join our department, who enjoys networking and building relationships with our patients and members of the multidisciplinary team. The role of an administrator in the Allergy Research Team is varied, and they would be expected to perform tasks such as inputting information onto paper and electronic databases,  organising meetings and taking minutes, filing, typing, as well as other office duties in a confidential environment. They will support the clinical team with administrative tasks, contacting research participants, booking appointments, preparing notes etc.

Interviews due to be held over 6th and 7th June 2024.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate could be the first point of contact for the services and therefore requires clear communication and planning skills,  with the ability to work independently and flexibly. The role requires liaising with researchers (internal and external) to obtain necessary documentation and managing correspondence.

We are looking for an organised individual who has experience of working in an administration role. Some research experience/ NHS administration experience is preferred but training will be provided. Ideally the successful applicant will be familiar with NHS computer systems and databases but this is not essential. They are required to have good IT knowledge of online meeting software, Word and Excel and at least 2 years administrative experience, preferably in healthcare, research or event management. They will need to be able to work autonomously within guidelines agreed with the line manager.

This post is based at The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. You will be expected to work office hours, but some flexibility may be possible. The post is a 2-Year fixed-term with the potential to extend dependent on future research funding.
