Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your Contribution:

 

·         Provide comprehensive clinical haematology care (inpatient, outpatient, day case).

·         Offer expert advice on haematology results and transfusion.

·         Review blood films.

·         Participate in clinical governance and share in a 1 in 4 on-call rota (with Southampton colleagues). Contribute to teaching, training, research, and the ongoing development of our specialist services and blood transfusion practices.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration and licence to practise with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Haematology (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Desirable criteria
  • MRCPCH or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of a special interest that complements those of other consultants in the department.
