Consultant Radiologist (Breast and Thoracic Imaging)

Consultant

Job overview

We are seeking a full time Consultant Radiologist to join our established and enthusiastic team in providing a high-quality Breast radiology service. This is a replacement post in a team of four full time and one part time Consultant Radiologists, two Specialist Doctors (one post vacant, out to recruitment) and five Superintendent Radiographers.

There are no on call duties within the post, as the out of hours service (for emergency care only) is supported by a remote reporting company.

The contract is for 10 PA with a further 1 PA available subject to mutual agreement.  The post offers an opportunity for a varied work experience, principally involving Breast screening and symptomatic work, with CT, MRI, Plain Film Radiography, Ultrasound, and interventional procedures. Job planned time will include MDT meetings, teaching, audit, and management. There will also be an element of acute CT MRI and ultrasound work supporting the emergency pathway.

The Trust is happy to consider flexible working in support of work / life balance. Extended days and compressed hours (long days) will be considered as well as weekend sessions.

Our ideal new colleague will be a Radiologist with an interest in Breast and Lung imaging and will be expected to be experienced in stereotactic breast interventions, Ultrasound guided biopsy and FNA as well as CT lung biopsy.

Job Description - Pending Royal College Approval.

Interview Date: to be confirmed.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate's job plan will be configured to ensure there is opportunity to contribute during the week to the Plain film, CT and MRI reporting as well as ultrasound activity for the emergency pathway.

The final timetable may change as the Consultant integrates into the department in the climate of services’ reconfiguration in the Trust and local health economy. Flexibility is expected within sessions to cover colleague’s absence and other department needs.

We are committed to endorsing inclusion, diversity and multiculturalism throughout out services and as such, our procedures and policies ensure that applicants are always treated fairly throughout the recruitment process.
