The Catering Department at St Mary's Hospital are currently looking for an experienced and innovative Chef to assist in the provision of the daily production of 680 patient meals and 350 staff and visitor meals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be involved in delivering bespoke menus to improve customer satisfaction, with a view to increasing Trust income. You will also be involved with:-
• Delivering desserts and cakes for patients and restaurant
• Delivering core patient meals, including texture modified diets
• Preparation of meats, vegetables, soups and sauces
• Evening patient meals and staff / visitor service
You’ll be working in a busy industrial kitchen, exposed to heat, cold, and noise daily. The role is physically demanding, you’ll be on your feet throughout your shift and will need excellent manual dexterity

Experience
Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or above or equivalent
- Experience of working as a Chef in a similar environment providing large output of meals
- Detailed knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety practices.
- Basic keyboard skills.
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written. Must be able to read & understand written instructions, food safety/quality assurance documents and patient menu requirements
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 Food Safety
- Experience of working with cook chill/cook freeze systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
