Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Scheduler
Band 4
Job overview
The Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Scheduler is responsible for the accurate and timely scheduling of chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer treatments, ensuring patients receive treatment efficiently and in line with local and national targets. Working closely with Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will coordinate patient appointments, support effective pathway management and contribute to the smooth running of the SACT service. The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, an understanding of cancer pathways and treatment regimens, and the ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing clinical and operational demands.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage, coordinate and review chemotherapy scheduling, ensuring oral and intravenous treatment regimens for oncology and haematology patients are appropriately booked. Duties include maintaining accurate patient records on KOMS and relevant referral and pathway systems, monitoring patient tracking lists and validation reports, and escalating delays, new regimens and scheduling concerns as required. The post holder will liaise with pharmacy aseptics and other Trust departments to coordinate treatment capacity, staffing requirements and urgent appointments. They will identify additional patient needs, support compliance with treatment pathways and national targets, prioritise actions appropriately, and provide training and guidance to colleagues to maintain a safe, effective and efficient service.
