Locum Consultant Cardiologist (non-intervention)

Locum Consultant

Job overview

Cardiology in East Kent Hospitals is one of the largest services in the South East, and is the regional heart attack centre for Kent, the 7th busiest in the UK.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled colleague to join us on a fixed-term basis, starting as soon as possible. The post will focus on supporting our outpatient service, helping us to see more patients promptly and continue improving access to high-quality cardiac care.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a well-established team of 18 consultant cardiologists, covering the full breadth of modern cardiology across our hospitals. Depending on your skills and interests, there is scope to shape the role — we would particularly welcome applicants with expertise in pacing, complex device therapy, electrophysiology, heart failure or cardiac imaging.

Given the integrated nature of our service, previous NHS consultant or senior registrar experience is essential, ensuring familiarity with UK clinical pathways, governance processes, and multidisciplinary team working.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.

We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.

[Please note that the vacancy may be closed early, if the number of applications exceed our limit.]
