Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Critical Care Outreach Practitioner in the friendly Critical Care Outreach team at the  WHH Hospital; they will be responsible for overseeing the high standards of care required for looking after the deteriorating/critically ill patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership, advice and guidance for nursing practice within the hospital and being a resource for all nursing staff.

They will also need to have expert clinical skills, great communication skills and clinical assessment skills. They will contribute to ensuring that the Nurses within the hospital are developed to maximize their contribution to the achievement of the Trusts service goals and upholds and models the Trust values.

Skills and experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of five years working in acute care setting with two or more years at band six level or above
  • Clinical Assessment skills. Communication and influencing skills
  • Facilitation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Advanced Life Support provider
  • Presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of acute pain assessment and management strategies

Personal/professional attributes

Essential criteria
  • Leading in quality improvement project within clinical speciality
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of delivering education and training to individuals or groups

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered general nurse
  • Degree in nursing or working towards degree or equivalent
  • Preperation of mentors or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within Critical Care or Emergency Care Practice
Desirable criteria
  • Master’s degree or working towards this qualification
  • Advanced physical examination qualification
  • Non Medical Prescribing qualification

Other

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of local quality improvement tools and ward metrics.
  • Awareness of and adherence to the organisations vision, mission and values
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of best practice, key issues and developments in the deteriorating patient programme

Governance

Essential criteria
  • Experience in audit compliance.
  • Knowledge of current national health service priorities
Desirable criteria
