We have an exciting opportunity in Dermatology to become part of the  medical secretary  team to be based at the William Harvey Hospital

This is a medical secretary post  as work with some clinicians completing clinics, typing and PTL work  the Dermatology team in achieving national and local targets. 

 This is an exciting opportunity to join a flexible, dynamic and close working team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be part of the Dermatology Team and will be responsible for the day to day  medical secretary administration.  The administrative role within the patients’ pathway from the decision to treat electively, to the date of admission and complete clinics typing within the trust targets. Support with other administrative roles. Patient pathway validation, booking of appointments, chasing results & PTL management

Essential criteria
  • Advanced keyboard skills, with knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate with, co-ordinate and liaise with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to remain calm in a busy environment whilst working under pressure
  • Able to analyse information and make the required judgements
  • Effective use of IT systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Medical terminology

  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial work procedures and practice.

  • NVQ Level 2

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2, RSA Level 3 or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

  • Computer literate
