Kings D2 is a dedicated Silver Trauma Ward with 19 beds.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 post, to support the ward manager with Clinical Leadership on a Silver Trauma Ward. 

We are looking for a person who has some previous experience in Silver Trauma and Health Care of the Older Person, but we also encourage applications from Senior Nurses or those from other health care environments.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective patient care whilst working as a member of the nursing team across East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust. To ensure the maintenance of high standards of patient care in response to service needs.

By working clinically as a member of the nursing team you will work in partnership with the Ward Manger to  provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership for a ward-based team of qualified and non-qualified  staff.  The post holder will be required to deputize in the absence of the Ward Manager and ensure a positive  patient experience through the delivery of high standards of patient care.  Leading clinical nursing practice 
within the clinical area.  Securing and assuring the highest standards of clinical care with the support of the  Matron and Head of Nursing.  The effective management of clinical and non-clinical risk reporting to the 
Manager within the Directorate Clinical Governance Framework.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse Degree in Nursing or working towards degree or equivalent
  • 3 years experience at Band 5 in an acute care setting.
  • Practice assessor / Practice supervisor
  • Continuous quality improvement.
  • Mandatory Training
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards degree/equivalent
  • Evidence of a career in acute nursing which demonstrates a wide knowledge within the field

Clinical Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical credibility -Venepuncture, cannulation, ECG’s, PICC/CVC Use, IV Drugs, ILS
  • Communication skills Facilitating team
  • Staff development & empowerment Negotiation.
  • Facilitating team communication/changes.
Desirable criteria
  • Health & Safety.
  • IT Skills
  • ALERT course

Personal & Professional Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates patient focused approach.
  • Understanding of current issues in Nursing.
  • Understanding of diabetes and endocrine
