Reporting to the Director of Estates Optimisation you will have responsibility for the Estates and Facilities operations and asset Management functions across Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. You will act as senior leader and line manager for the Estates and Facilities Department, having overall responsibility for estates, facilities, and related project management and delivery.

Main duties of the job

A key part of your role will include the on-going delivery and implementation of the Estates & Facilities Strategy across the Trust ensuring that the estate supports the delivering of the service strategy, maximising efficiency and opportunities for effectiveness. This will involve coordination of a large estate as tenant, landlord and owner, across multiple partners and care sectors, providing a high quality, cost
effective building maintenance service and asset management service to the Trust and any contracted parties. Successful management of the Estates Capital programme will also be critical. 

You will also be responsible for the oversight of estates compliance with statutory and best practice requirements for designated areas to ensure a safe and legal service is delivered. You will provide timely and robust information on Estates and Facilities Services’ performance and reporting on a regular basis key performance indicators and provide update reports to the Trust Board on key Estate initiatives. You will be required to resolve highly complex and sensitive issues which may conflict with the aims of the Estates Strategy and overall Trust aims and objectives.

You will deputise for the Director of Estates and Facilities.

With this in mind as part of the selection process for this position you will be asked to complete two other activities in addition to the competency-based interview that you will invited to. This extended selection process is designed to assess your management style and the specific details of the exercises will be given if you are successfully shortlisted. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • An accredited Estates, Facilities or Surveying degree or equivalent experience and / or specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate courses / masters equivalent or with demonstrative experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • To have significant senior experience of managing a large Estates and /or Facilities Team.
  • To have a successful track record of negotiating a Estates and/or Facilities services contracts.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A thorough in-depth understanding and specialist knowledge across a range of estates and facilities activities.
  • Ability to interpret impact of national policy and Dept of Health guidelines for the use of property and act accordingly.

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel to all sites within the Trust area

Ability to manager

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing large staff groups.
