Job overview

We are looking for a Band 5 Specialist Podiatrist to work within Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust

The successful candidate will join one of the largest and forward-thinking Podiatry Departments in the Country. This role is for a highly motivated and professional HCPC registered Podiatrist to provide high quality podiatric care for patients with pathological foot conditions and those individuals at risk of developing serious foot health complications.

The post holder is required to have excellent clinical skills to deliver a range of Podiatry treatments for patients in Kent.

The Department embraces the use of new ways of working using virtual consultations, Wound Matrix and Rio for clinical documentation.

The service is delivered in Community Clinics, Health Centres, GP surgeries, Acute and Community Hospital Sites, Prisons and patient’s own home. All staff are given the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety and scope of practice. Main duties of the job

This role is for a highly motivated and professional HCPC registered podiatrist with graduate clinical experience to provide high quality podiatric care for patients with pathological foot conditions and those individuals at risk of developing serious foot health complications. 

The post holder is required to have excellent diagnostic and clinical skills to deliver a range of podiatry treatments including biomechanical interventions and wound care for patients in Kent.

The clinician will effectively record all patient interventions, offer support, advice and guidance to Band 5 podiatrists, podiatry assistants, students and administration staff wherever they are working.  The post holder must work effectively as part of the podiatry team/department and use good communication skills at all times.

This role will develop the clinician with the qualities required for treatment planning, assessment, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care to a variety of patients.

Supporting personal and people development by engaging in own supervision and appraisal process, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development

Post is based in 3 days in Ashford Team and 2 days in Canterbury Team

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in Podiatric Medicine
  • Completion of post-graduate ‘induction’ training Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Diabetic Foot Module or willingness to successfully complete.
  • HCPC registration

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Proven record of providing high quality podiatric care for high risk patients and using biomechanical skills to provide effective chair side and prescribed orthotics

KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Clinical Governance and professional standards Health & Safety roles and responsibilities for clinical practice

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed manual dexterity and clinical skills
  • Ability to provide clear, concise written and verbal information to colleagues, patients and external contacts
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team
  • Computer literacy to enable use of email/inputting accurate patient records at speed
  • Ability to work alone and under pressure if required
