We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, forward-thinking physiotherapist to join our incredible team at Bromley CIC. We strive to deliver high-quality, efficient and specialised physiotherapy care to children and young people, aged 0-19 across all community settings and are based at the Phoenix Children's Resource Centre.

We are looking for a focused, reliable and passionate physiotherapist with paediatric experience and knowledge, able to undertake assessments, clinical reasoning and treatment planning. 

Our service offers a supportive team of highly skilled and experienced paediatric physiotherapists, with opportunities for you to train physiotherapy students and be involved in quality improvement projects. 

 

Main duties of the job

To undertake the comprehensive specialist assessment of children and young people from a varied caseload, including those with a complex presentation, MSK and developmental concerns, using investigative and analytical skills.

To formulate with parents/carers and the child/young person an individual physiotherapy management plan using advanced clinical reasoning skills.

To work within the multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist advice to other specialist health professionals, such as other therapies, child psychologists, health visitors, GPs, social care professionals, education services and others as necessary. 

To be responsible for supervision, delegation and teaching of physiotherapy assistants, physiotherapy students and junior staff. 

To be able to work closely with the team around the child ensuring physiotherapy management principles are embedded in the community in which the child learns, plays and is cared for. 

To provide highly specialist advice for Education Health Care Plans.

To accept clinical responsibility for a varied children's caseload and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To assess children and young people for specialist equipment for postural control and to facilitate the provision of that equipment. To instruct those working with the child in the use of that equipment. To monitor new developments in specialised equipment, help in piloting new equipment and communicate with manufacturers.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A degree or diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised training establishment
  • Registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
  • Member of APCP

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  • Knowledge and understanding of postural management, equipment and orthotics
  • Ability to prioritise, delegate and manage time efficiently
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Current UK driving license with car available to work
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising; physiotherapy assistants, physiotherapy students

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of paediatric courses; Baby Bobath, Paediatric MSK, Neuro-muscular conditions, Hypermobility

Experience

  • Post graduate experience in a paediatric setting
  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding children
