Job overview

Community Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) – Band 3
Salary: £29,176 – £30,225 (inclusive of HCAS)
Location: Across the London Borough of Bromley – Bromley, Beckenham, Orpington & Biggin Hill

Hours: Ideally FT & some PT (minimum 3 days/week) available
Please note: The first 6 weeks of the role will require full-time attendance for training.

The post-holder is required to work across a 7-day rota (7.5 hrs per day), including weekends and bank holidays, to meet the needs of the local community.

Times are a mix of 8.15am – 4.15pm & 10.45am – 6.45pm.

Main duties and responsibilities associated with this role are:

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver high-quality personal and clinical care to patients in the community
  • Support individuals with chronic conditions, post-hospital care, and patients at end of life needs
  • Working autonomously but will have the support and supervision of qualified District Nurses
  • Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Health & Social Care or equivalent experience delivering care at this level
Desirable criteria
  • Additional clinical skills training (e.g. wound care, phlebotomy, catheter care)
  • Care Certificate (or willingness to complete during onboarding

Specific Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic clinical care skills (e.g. observations, assisting with hygiene, continence, nutrition, mobility)
  • Able to follow care plans and report concerns
  • Accurate and timely record-keeping
  • Ability to work independently and within time constraints
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of health promotion, reablement, and long-term condition support
  • Ability to support behaviour that challenges or complex needs

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience providing hands-on care in any setting: community, hospital, domiciliary, or unpaid (e.g. family care)
  • Experience supporting people with long-term conditions, frailty, or disability
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a community setting or supporting patients in their own homes
  • Experience supporting older adults or palliative care

Information Technology

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use MS Office e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Able to maintain accurate records using electronic systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience using EMIS or similar clinical systems
