BANK Adult Speech & Language Therapy Assistant

Band 4  -  £33,262 - £36,027 Inclusive HCAS per annum pro rata

An opportunity has arisen to join our Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy (ASLT) team as a Bank Band 4 Adult Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in Bromley.

We are a supportive and friendly team who will work with adults with a range of communication and swallowing disorders including voice and dysfluency. We also have specialist SLT services such as an outpatient Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of swallowing (FEEs) service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support provision of SLT services to adults within the Bromley Healthcare services with a range of conditions such as Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and Motor Neurone disease. 

This post would suit a motivated person with prior experience in an SLT team or assistant role, or someone looking to develop skills working as an Adult SLT assistant. Driving is an essential requirement of this job. You will be provided with training appropriate for the role and we have a highly developed internal supervision structure.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good Literacy Verbal Skills
  • Current UK Drivers Licence
  • GCSE A – C Maths or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Life support
  • Manual handling training course
  • Speech and Language Therapy Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an administration role
  • Experience of working with Speech and Language Therapists
  • Experience of working with adults with communication or swallowing difficulties
  • Experience of working in a team environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Past experience of working in the health care environment.
  • Experience working within MDT triage or FEEs service

Specific Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work independently/without direct supervision
  • To have a good standard of written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to prepare accurate written information and correspondence
  • To be able to communicate with adults who may have difficulties with understanding.
