Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our highly motivated cardiology department. East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust consists of five sites, William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother in Margate, Kent and Canterbury Hospital and two other smaller sites including a brand new Hospital in Dover. EKHUFT is one of the largest trusts in England.

After in house training the candidate will be able to accurately record electrocardiograms and to recognize normal and abnormal recordings. Fit Blood Pressure monitors, holter monitors including 24 hour, 48 hour, 72 hour and 7 days.

As a department we are dedicated to on-going training and development.

Main duties of the job

  • To record a technically accurate electrocardiograph, enabling the physician to accurately interpret the results.
  •  Prepare recordings for patient notes with accurate patient details and correctly labelled results. 
  • Accurately input data on to the patient record systems, keeping accurate activity data.
  •  Routine care of equipment including cleaning, identifying technical faults and initiate the correct action.
  • Know when to seek advice from a senior member of staff.
  • Consumable stock check.
  • Fit ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring and download those results onto a database.
  • Assist with training and supervision of new cardiographers, students and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist clerical staff with filing, telephone queries and report typing.
  • Any other duties which are a reasonable management request.
