Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke Care, to join our comprehensive therapy team.

The stroke service is currently provided at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and the current strategic plan is for the Stroke Service to move to a new build at the William Harvey Hospital in 2028. 

For this post we require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our specialty and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services.  

As part of the Stroke workforce development, we are looking to provide comprehensive Stroke rehabilitation across 7 days and the post holder will be expected to contribute to 7 day working.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist is to provide information, support and expert advice in the management of patients who have suffered a Stroke or other neurological conditions, from the time of diagnosis and throughout the disease spectrum  and be an integral part of the multi disciplinary team.

To be involved in the advanced assessment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and or/chronic presentation and give highly specialised therapy advice to other team members and to provide a key focus for clinical expertise.

To establish and develop sound communication networks, along with other  specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.

In conjunction with the wider MDT, develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to clinical specialty.

In conjunction with the Clinical Lead, ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management

  • 2 years band 6 in Neurology
  • experience or participation in research or audit

Qualifications

  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Post graduate courses related to Neurology
Desirable criteria
  • relevant masters degree or equivalent
  • Member of the CSP
  • Member of ACPIN

knowledge

Essential criteria
  • evidence of up to date evidence based knowledge for treating Neurological patients
  • evidence of post graduate relevant evidence based specialist courses
Desirable criteria
  • evidence and knowledge of working with other stakeholders, community services and charities
